Texas Mutual employees volunteer over 1,700 hours to support our communities across the state
At Texas Mutual, we believe in supporting our neighbors for the good of our communities and the state of Texas. For the third consecutive year, we partnered with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) for our Week of Giving, where 435 Texas Mutual employees completed projects benefiting 31 organizations in four Texas cities that we call home. From October 14-21, our employees spent 1,785 hours volunteering together to support great organizations.
Our Austin employees kicked off our Week of Giving with a family volunteer event, benefitting Generation SERVE. The group participated in kid-friendly volunteer projects including making rice socks, decorating coffee sleeves and making fleece scarves. Throughout the week, employees spent time serving food to those in need at Caritas of Austin, helping build a house for Austin Habitat for Humanity, planting and cultivating fruits and vegetables at Urban Roots’ farm, conducting mock interviews with Goodwill of Central Texas and making tote bags for Any Baby Can. Austin employees also sorted donations at the Central Texas Food Bank and Salvation Army, decorated hats with kids at Foundation Communities, and supported several other organizations including Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Dress for Success and the Thinkery.

Our Dallas employees stepped up for their community by participating in a cemetery cleanup to honor our veterans, spending time with clients at My Possibilities’ Center for Lifelong Learning, making cold and flu kits for Foundation Communities and preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Employees also got their families involved during a volunteer event working on several projects, including catnip knots, teacher gifts and gift bags to support Catch Up & Read, Humane Society of North Texas, Ronald McDonald House and Foundation Communities.
Employees in Houston kicked off their Week of Giving by preparing meals for clients of Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Throughout the week, they also helped take care of our neighbors by participating in a cemetery cleanup to honor veterans, creating festive décor with Generation SERVE, speaking to high school students about education and career paths with CollegeCommunityCareer and spending time with kids at Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos.
Our Lubbock employees spent the week showing up for our neighbors by sorting donations for South Plains Food Bank and preparing food for families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. To close out their Week of Giving, our Lubbock office partnered with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock to host a family volunteer event where employees and their kids created care and supply packages for those in need.
