NIOSH opens nominations for Safe-in-Sound awards
NIOSH is now accepting nominations for its 2023 Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award. The award recognizes businesses with measurable achievements in hearing loss prevention as well as individuals or organizations implementing new and unique advances. Nominations for others are due June 8 and self-nominations are due August 18.

Study explores where workplace accidents are most likely to occur
A new study from Dr. James Beck, professor of psychology, reveals that workplace accidents are more likely to occur in settings that are moderately dangerous. The study explains that employees tend to focus more on safety in extremely hazardous environments, while safety procedures are often overlooked in moderately dangerous environments.
Millions of young employees enter the job market each summer, but recent child labor violations have cost employers nearly $3.4 million. The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) provides five tips to help employers protect their employees and business.
